"The CEO of Queer Destinations, Oriol Pàmies, has been enthusiastic about the work being done by Mía Reef Isla Mujeres y Mía Bacalar to obtain the distinction and position itself as a safe and friendly option for the LGBTQ+ community. The ‘Queer Destinations Committed’ distinction is an internationally recognized standard that helps companies and destinations prepare to welcome the LGBTQ+ segment in the best possible way. To achieve this, the main requirement is a process of awareness-raising and training for all employees.

As well as having external and internal policies against discrimination. This process of awareness-raising and training begins with the Educational Program called "Hospitality meets Diversity", a course on the Queer Destinations e-learning platform with updated statistical data, interviews and real cases related to the LGBTQ+ community. This space aims to create a safe environment for the discussion and training of professionals with doubts about the LGBTQ+ community, their consumption habits and how to welcome them in the right way. This differentiating factor allows the property to have its human capital trained in the care and service of travelers in this segment.

In addition, Pàmies commented that "Queer Destinations is working with Sectur Federal on a tourism strategy based on the LGBTQ+ segment with the goal of accrediting 10 destinations under the Queer Destinations seal throughout Mexico before the end of 2022." Since 2020, we have joined forces with México to work on a specific strategy that takes into account the LGBTQ+ segment.

Queer Destinations is the leading company in the LGBTQ+ tourism segment internationally and an affiliate member of the IGLTA. Through awareness programs, training, consulting and marketing strategies, Queer Destinations acts as the bridge that connects governments, destinations and international tourism companies with LGBTQ+ travelers around the world. It currently has a presence in Mexico, the United States, Panamá, Colombia and Spain".
